<h1 style="text-align: center;">yCombinator ON sospep</h1> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Below you will find an example outline for a 'sospep' that i am creating on the subject of <a href="/view/article?id=4423" target="_blank">ycombinator</a>(YC) the company. </span><span style="font-size: large;">Think of 'this sospep' as "my notebook" - aka everything that I know about this particular company.</span></p> <p style="text-align: center;">> HOW TO: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">USE sospep-subjects TO create your own ycombinator notebook by starting with my notebook</span><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Keep in mind that I am looking at ycombinator from the perspective of an entrepeneur considering applying to YC's startup accelorator program. Therefore the information contained in this 'demo sospep' is primarily focused on <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="/view/procedures?id=61" target="_blank">the YC application process</a></span> and how to best present my company(or yours) in said application aka <span style="text-decoration: underline;">my yc application </span></span></p> <p style="text-align: center;">> HOW TO: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">USE sospep-systems TO quickly create your own ycombinator application starting with our ycombinator applicaition</span><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Now, the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="/view/people?id=111" target="_blank">good folks over at YC</a></span> have put together a pretty detailed <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="/view/article?id=4424" target="_blank">how to apply to YC</a></span> page, which I would <strong>highly reccomend</strong> as the <strong>first step</strong> on <span style="text-decoration: underline;">your application journey</span>. </span></p> <p style="text-align: center;"> > HOW TO: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">USE sospep-people TO keep track of all the people associated with your ycombinator application and get a jump start by using our contact research</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Now, for all of you 'go getters' out there who are going to GO immediately to <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://apply.ycombinator.com/" target="_blank">the application</a></span>, and start typing, I would advise you to STOP IMMEDIATELY and reread the previous sentence. On second thought, never mind, if you don't do that, it could make my application's chances a little bit better ;)</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Now, even though there is a lot of good info in the YC article about how to write your application, that certainly isn't going to stop me(or you) from digging a little deeper to see what, if any, additional <span style="text-decoration: underline;">insight</span>, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">tips/tricks</span>, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">resources</span>, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">what have you</span>, that I or you can come up with, to put our companies best foot forward, so to speak. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">There are several <span style="text-decoration: underline;">3rd party "guides to applying"</span> that have been published with helpful resources that are certainly worth a look and there are also </span><span style="font-size: large;">many entrepeneurs who have succeeded in applying and many who have not, who have published their experiences and insight.</span></p> <p style="text-align: center;">> HOW TO: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">USE sospep-places TO track all of the locations associated with your ycombinator application</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Should your application be successfull, you will be invited to an interview in Mountain View, CA, aka the next step in your application journey. </span></p> <p style="text-align: center;">> HOW TO: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">USE sospep-events TO track all of the tasks associated with any project - aka your ycombinator journey</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">The interviews are notorious in the industry because they are essentially <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>only 10 minutes</strong></span> long, due to the volume of interviews the yc partners are processing in a short period of time. We've annotated the <a href="/view/article?id=4457" target="_blank">KEYPOINTS from Paul Graham's essay on How to prepare for you interview</a>, and we have also compiled a comprehensive listing of the <a href="/view/steps?id=129" target="_blank">interview questions that ycombinator are known to ask</a>.
