<li>NASCAR is a sanctioning body that organizes stock car racing series. They have multiple divisions but the major division/series is known as the NASCAR SPRINT CUP series (or CUP) &nbsp;</li>
<li>The SPRINT CUP championship is an annual series of 36 races at 23 different tracks across the USA, the first 26 races serve as a "regular season" to qualify 12 of the drivers in the series for a 10 race championship playoff that determines the annual series champion. &nbsp; &nbsp;</li>
<li>43 cars are entered per race in the SPRINT CUP series, the cars start the race based upon the qualifying time set at each of the race events.&nbsp;</li>
<li>The CARs are "modelled upon" STOCK production cars being sold by the auto mfgs. Currently there are 3 major auto MFG's involved in NASCAR(CHEVROLET, FORD and TOYOTA) Back in the early/early days of NASCAR. the cars that were raced were actually modified production cars BUT TODAY, make no mistake, these cars are custom built&nbsp;purebred racing machines that produce approx 900 hp from a 360 cu inch v8 engine in a front engine, rear drive setup that uses a manually shifted transmission and a solid rear axle. &nbsp;</li>
