<p><strong>POINT 1 - IF you have a tech startup company,&nbsp; the canadian government is paying 80% of your employees salaries</strong><br />&nbsp;<br />&gt; you hire 10 engineers to build your products @ (x) $ per annum</p>
<p>&gt; in SF,USA those engineers cost you 10 * (approx) 120k per year = 1.2M in payroll costs</p>
<p>- your company gets nothing($0.00) back from Uncle Sam and your net payroll cost is 1.2m</p>
<p>&gt; in Canada, those engineers cost your company 10 * 120k</p>
<p>- your company gets 80% of that back from Uncle Stephen and your net payroll cost is $240K</p>
<p><br /><strong>POINT 2 -</strong></p>
<p>- as many have commenters have pointed out, software engineer' salaries are considerably less in Canada than they are in SV and other US tech centers,</p>
<p>- from the salary numbers mentioned in this posts comments it's seems that, in&nbsp;Canada&nbsp;you could hire 20 engineers @ 60 K per year and still be sitting at a payroll cost of 240K</p>
<p><br /><strong>POINT 3 - if it sounds too good to be true ...</strong></p>
<p>- @brennanm comment - points out some of the details on this program and what types of work qualifies/doesnt qualify for the salary 'rebates'</p>
<p>- obviously you would need to do some serious due diligence in regards to your company's products and what % of your work would be claim eligible and the costs associated with getting that claim</p>

<p>- the cost of living in anytown,canada, doesn't impact the employer paying the salary</p>
<p>- the point is can i hire (x) engineers in anywhere,canada with the skills i need to build my product?</p>
