<li>] released widget in Aug 2011, amount of feedback was stunning, 84k downloads</li>
<li>] created an iphone app with a friend</li>
<li>] then apple released yosemite, discontinued dashcode, future looked bleak</li>

<li>] BUT apple opened up the notification center for developers, to display widgets there</li>
<li>]&nbsp; Today extensions (this is what they call widgets). But it was all native Objective-C code. Ugh! Dealing with a compiler, memory leaks and multi-threaded processes was not what I wanted to do</li>
<li>] biggest problem - didnt know where to start</li>
<li>] tried reading book on objective C - was greek to him</li>
</ol>
<li>] swift to the rescue</li>
<ol>
<li>] recalled hearing about swift, apples new language, lots of experts were writing about it, saying how much it sucked and that you should learn objective C</li>
<li>] but he found swift to be a breeze -</li>
<li>] with countless hours, he&nbsp;answered his many unanswered questions</li>

<li>] circle of learning - 3 phases - excitement, struggle and learning</li>

<li>] excitement - a new idea and start learning things, stops when you&nbsp;reach a barrier in your knowledge</li>
<li>] struggle - encounter the first real problem your excitement and motivation levels start to plummet. You have no idea what could help you or what to search for. You are sooooo desperate: your even checking out the 3rd results page in Google for an answer</li>
<li>] learning - You find the solution to that nasty problem. You move faster than before, and start to feel excited and motivated again. You go back to phase 1.</li>
</ol>
<li>] So next time you start out, remember: the struggle phase might be long and frustrating but the solution is out there. Finding it is part of the fun.&nbsp;</li>
