Let me tell you why&nbsp;I love this question?, b/c he asked for 5, IF he would have said what are the "essential skills" one could have pondered on this much longer, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">When I answered the question</span>&nbsp;my list of 5 skills contained the same skills(skillset) that many others offered up, one might even call it <span style="text-decoration: underline;">the consensus list</span>.</li>
<li>] Many others who answered the same question offered up skills like "the love of learning" or "being a team player" even "being lazy"&nbsp;. Personally i would classify these as "character traits" that could potentially enhance your success as a web developer, not the fundamental skills per se that you will need to be a web developer. A "love of learning" for example is something that is necessary to be a successfull web developer but&nbsp;for this article&nbsp;am focusing striclty on the hard "skills" needed to create&nbsp;the products (web page/s) and&nbsp;get&nbsp;the product onto the shelf(the web site) so to speak&nbsp;</li>

Don't get discouraged, a little bit of programming know how can take you a long way, start by learning the fundamentals first and progressively building on your knowledge in a consistent fashion.</li>
