<li>and the desktop os market is huge but sales are currently declining (for the first time in like ... ever)</li>
<li>msft's percentage of this pie is&nbsp;NOT likely to change significantly in the year ahead, albeit the pie is shrinking</li>
</ol>
<li><strong>msft has&nbsp;0 presence in the tablet market.</strong></li>
<ol>
<li>and the tablet market is&nbsp;growing rapidly &nbsp;(forecasts for the year ahead are for upwards of 100 million units&nbsp;)</li>
<li>even if they can grab a small peice of this pie it could be a big chunk of new business</li>
</ol>
<li><strong>msft has minimal presence in the smartphone market</strong></li>
<ol>
<li>the smartphone market is growing rapidly. ( forecasts for the year ahead are as optimistic as 1 B for Billion units&nbsp;)</li>

<li>the largest majority of consumers(lets call them <strong>the "average consumer"</strong>) who buys a desktop, laptop, tablet&nbsp;or a smarphone&nbsp;are&nbsp;NOT tech enthusiasts who revel in the minute details of how their operating systems function.</li>

<li>lets assume, that for&nbsp;our <strong>"average consumer"</strong>, it&nbsp;"might be" appealing to have 1 os interface, one(1)&nbsp;"how to -&nbsp;do computer stuff"&nbsp;and&nbsp;it looked the&nbsp;same&nbsp;and it worked the same on whatever&nbsp;computer they had, wether it be on their desktop or laptop pc, on&nbsp;their smartphone, on their tablet, maybe even on their computer at work</li>

<li>assuming that this feature would be "appealing enough"&nbsp;to&nbsp;(x %) of&nbsp;average consumers that they would choose a ms os based tablet or a ms os based smartphone over a competing brand ...</li>
<li>msft is ahead of the game, way ahead of the game.</li>

<h2>and this is just the beginning of the story,&nbsp;because the msft ball&nbsp; is&nbsp;just starting to roll, find out whats next ...</h2>

<li>a harder number to&nbsp;pin down, but its likely&nbsp;that even a 1% share of that market is in the millions of units (lets say 5-10), so conservatively even a tiny fraction of this market could mean another 15 million new accounts</li>

<li>yes i know&nbsp;they are going to lose some $$ from&nbsp;the&nbsp;tradditional desktop licences&nbsp;business, we will address that later (or not)</li>

<li><strong>now lets also point them(all users)&nbsp;at our new music service</strong></li>

<li>where&nbsp;they can also&nbsp;buy stuff from msft,</li>

<li>where&nbsp;they can buy&nbsp;services from msft,&nbsp;</li>
