[WHAT]

  1. ] Once you have downloaded the "ISO file" with "windows 10 preview" (or another) operating system(O/S) on it.
  2. ] here are the steps you will need to get that O/S installed onto your PC
  3. ] begin by following the steps you will need to burn the .iso file to what we refer to as a "bootable" media,
    1. ] either "DVD" disks or
    2. ] a "USB" media device. 
  4. ] then begin the installation process of the new OS onto a PC

[WHY]

  1. ] use bootable DVD or USB media to install new operating system software on your PC

[WHERE]

  1. ] any x86 PC that meets these system requirements
    1. ] ( + list win 10 - system requirements)

[WHEN]

  1. ] 2014-09-dd - initial technical preview version availablle, build # 9879

[EXAMPLE]

  1. ] download the .ISO file that contains the windows 10 OS software that you want to install on your PC.

[HOW-TO]

  1. ] download the current version of the "windows 10 iso" file for your requirements
    1. *] example -  english us x64 10074 (2015-04)
    2. ] use this link or the link referenced below (#1) to go to a list of the versions
    3. *] your requirements - your choice of languages and for your hardware platform, either x86(32 bit) or x64(64 bit)
    4. *+] not sure if your 32 or 64 bit, - how to tell if my pc is x86(32bit) or x64(64bit)
  2. ] download the following windows 7 usb-dvd download tool 
    1. ] a utility app from microsoft that enables you to create bootable media(DVD or USB) from .iso files
    2. ] this utility will burn the 'iso' file that you download to a blank DVD or copy it to a USB drive,
  3. ] install the windows 7 usb-dvd download tool utility app from microsoft
    1. ] next, next, next
  4. ] run the "windows 7 usb-dvd download tool" to create the "bootable media"
    1. ] browse - to the location where you saved the downloaded file
      1. ] saving to your downloads folder or desktop is usually handy
    2. ] click open (once you have found and selected the .iso file )
    3. ] choose if you are making a "bootable DVD" or a "bootable USB" drive
    4. ] click "burn media"
    5. ]  you can then "boot off" of either the disk or the usb drive so that you can install windows 10
  5. ] let the dvd burner do its job, (this will usually take a few minutes)
    1. *] the dvd will usually "eject" from the drive once its finished the burning process
  6. [OPTIONAL] use windows explorer to view the files on the DVD, and verify that the files have been burned successfully
    1. *] NOTE when you put  
    2. ] you should see a number of folders() and a file named setup.exe on the disc

    1. *] you will need to sign up for the "msft insiders club", 1 click if you already have a microsoft account

 

  1. [IYDAH] download the windows 7 usb-dvd download tool(win7usbdvd) (a windows utility for creating bootable usb)
    1. ] install the win7usbdvd
  2. ] create a bootable usb drive using the the windows utitlity
    1. ] select the .iso file ( the one we just downloaded)
    2. ] choose the media type - usb or dvd ( choose usb)
    3. ] begin copying ( if the usb has any files on it, it will warn you saying they will be erased)
  3. ] insert bootable usb drive,
    1. ] installation process begins - OR ] use f12 to boot from, ] run setup.exe on the pc your installing
  4. ] create a partition
