3. ] Dale Earnhardt Jr - #88 -2nd place, moves UP to 1st in season points - a good race for Dale Jr, making a good recovery from a botched pit stop that move him back into the middle of the pack and a great slide recovery enabled Jr to also extend his season long streak of top 10 finishes to 5  post race press conference - talks about - botched pit stop, teamwork, has suggestion for track owners about repaving a couple of lanes on the back stretch only. post race team report 
4. ] Joey Logano - #22 - 3rd place, 9th in season points - raced hard at the front of the pack all day, late in the race the car was overheating but still running at the front, on the last restart he threw a major block on 14 who was trying to get underneath him and then was involved in a fierce battle for the lead with arch rival Denny Hamlin, which ended up with the 11 going hard into the inside retaining wall and Logano capturing 3rd spot.

5. ] Carl Edwards - 4th place, 4th in season points, cousin carl says it all in his post race interview -  "now thats entertainment, we had it all this afternoon, ..."
6. x] Kurt Busch - 5th place, 13th in season points,  - post race press conference - talks about the different lanes, the "amazing racing", attempting the late race pass on brother Kyle and more ..
7. ] Underdogs ? Overachievers 
1. x] Kurt Busch - delivered again for Furniture Row Racing, the single car team based in Denver CO. This is the 2nd top 5 in 2 weeks for Kurt and only the 5th in 205 races for the team.Also of note is that for the second week in a row the RCR satellite team has SCHOOLED the mothership's team (RCR) efforts. Looks to me like thru the first 1/7 of the season Kurt has manage to keep his eyes on the prize (? the open #29 ride for 2014?). The question is how long can he do this?   
2. x] A.J Allmendinger - driving the 51 car for the single car team of Phoenix Racing wound up the day finishing 16th, a pretty decent finish, for this driver working his way out of the doghouse.
8. x] Rivals - Denny Hamlin VS Joey Logano (Part III)
1. ] PT III - the rivalry resumes on the track with both drivers racing hard and clean at the front of the pack for most of the day, take a look at this close call/message sent where Joey slides up to within millimeters of Hamlins back bumper after not being able to complete the pass. As the race closes they are racing each other hard for the lead, and it comes down to the epic closing laps battle that ends up with both cars wrecking, Hamlin with a hard hit into the wall  After Hamlins crash he managed his way out of his car under his own power but immediately collapsed and was taken on a backboard by ambulance to the infield care center. In his post race interview immediately after the Stewart confrontation, Logano made some comments to the effect of "he got what he deserved" in regards to Hamlin, which would serve to add further fuel to the anti Logano crowd. Hamlin was later airlifted(b/c of traffic concerns) to the nearest hospital for further evaluation. He was reported to be awake and alert. 
2. ] PT II - twitter accounts are logged off and the rivalry resumed back on the track at Bristol(BMS) where Denny punted Logano effectively ending any chance of him having a good finish. After the race Logano initiated a post race confrontation with Hamlin and later that evening the ex-teammate's were at each other on twitter again. Apparently there has been no love lost between the 2 going back to their days as teammates at JGR. After the post race scuffle that followed the Bristol Race, they carried their "rivalry" over to social media channels ..

1. x] After the race, Stewart pulled up in front of Logano in the pits and initiated a post race "scuffle" with attempted punches and thrown water bottles. Pit crew members quickly got involved to avoid further confrontation and of course next came the TV camera's with reportor Steve Byrnes who caught up with an incensed Stewart ..

1. ] This site has full stats for the TV broadcast on FOX, which indicated that 146 minutes of the total 197 minutes of the TV broadcast was RACE COVERAGE (74.11%) and the balance was COMMERCIALS(25.89%). 
2. ] The race averaged a 4.5/## in the overnight ratings. That's up +  32% over last year's 3.4/## for the same race.(rain shortened in 2012) For the weekend, the Auto Club 500 was the top non-NCAA sporting event by a wide margin
3. ] So far this year, 4/5 races broadcast on FOX have posted a year-to-year increase. 
4. ] In 5 races this season, the NASCAR TV ratings are UP ##.# %.
2. x] Attendance - although NASCAR no longer provides their unofficial guess estimated attendance figures, 
1. ] A local newspaper is reporting that about 85k turned out on Sunday after an effective marketing effort by ACS staff.
2. ] with some people(see above) guess estimating the crowd at about (90+%) of the 92K seat speedway capacity.
3. ] Last years announced attendance at this race was something like 60k.

1. ] Awesome! In his un-official survey of having fans grade the race, the Auto Club 400 recieved exceedingly high grades according to Richard Allen at Racing with Rich.com
