  1. ] Scott Hanselman is an internet blogger amongst other things who occasionally blogs/podcasts about his personal "systems of organization"(PSO aka productivity) Scott is often asked about "how he does its" when it comes to the "amount of work" that he is producing. This blog article outlines some of the 'productivity strategies (tips) that he uses (CIRCA 2005) to achieve his high level of personal productivity

    3. ] These tasks are then filed using the "Short Term" system below.

    1. [CAPTURE] uses a moleskine pocket ruled notebook, but there are many options, for some pages uses 'templates' from a DIY planner and adds them to the "moleskine"
    2. [ORGANIZE] uses the Covey quadrant system to organize "To Do's"
    3. [ORGANIZE] "time specific appointments" are "manually synched" to "outlook"

    1. ] I use Project-specific Outlook Folders along with folders called Action, Deferred, Waiting For.
    2. ] My system is Do It, Delegate It, Defer It, Drop It. (from GTD)
    3. ] currently has 0 emails, with the help of ZEB
    4. ] folder called Shared Desktop that is sync'ed to three machines using FolderShare. Whatever I'm working on (non-code) goes in that folder, and is available everywhere.
    5. ] My calendar in Outlook is sync'ed between work (Exchange) and home (PST) and wirelessly to my Blackberry. It's always up-to-date, and is made public (save private appts) to folks at work.
    6. ] I use CVS at home at CVS/SubVersion at work for all code and/or versioned documents
  5. ] long term(month to 1 year ) - analog
    1. I use the 43 Folders system ( from GTD) a "circular" buffer where I can put reminders.
    2. ] I've got itineraries for trips I've got scheduled in March, I've got reminders like 'Buy furnace filter."
    3. ] This is a place I check daily to be reminded of something.
  6. ] long term - (month to 1 year ) - digital
    1. Digital - I've got a RAID Array at home, along with FolderShare and a REV Drive. This combo keeps long term information always available but always backed up. The REV disks are taken to the safety deposit box quarterly
