[WHAT]

  2. ] best of is determined by community ranking (how many member upvotes the article got) and then curation ( manual selection of {interesting topics} by me )

  4. ] the comments are linked to the hacker news comments section for each article. These comments/discussions are typically a cut above most website comments sections and are definetely worth checking out for the topics that you are interested in.
  5. ] The date is linked to the Jonathan Dubin's site, Wayback HN which keeps  a listing of the top 30 stories by date from the hacker news website. 
  6. ] The numbers beside the comments link, include the # upvotes the article recieved and the number of comments on the article
