In this issue we take a QUICK TOUR of the "sospep" web application suite by exploring one of the sospep "DAPPS" that I have created named "my-BC". I like to share this "DAPP" with my friends and family who are (or are planning) to visit my home province of British Columbia(BC), Canada. I hope that that this enables them to choose the "Locations, Events, ..." in BC that are of most interest to them during their stay here and ... I also encourage them to ... SHARE/ADD/EDIT ... their thoughts/ideas/opinons and their Locations/Events/ ... to make the "my_BC" DAPP even better.

A "DAPP" (short for Data Application) is just a collection of related data. DAPPS are easy to create, publish(share) and use. You can use pre-defined DAPPS that have already been created to quickly structure your ARTICLES/ITEMS/STEPS/PEOPLE/TASKS and LOCATIONS into existing containers OR you can define and create your own DAPPS in exactly the manner that is most logical to you.
An "APP" is an additional "optional component" that "you choose" to add to "your sospep" to provide additional specific functionality. An example of an app is the "money" app. The money app enables you to track the expenses associated with the any/all of your sospep dapps. Anyone can easily add existing apps to your sospep in a few clicks, you can even create your own specific custom apps (if you know a little javasript)
A CORE COMPONENT is one of the 6 core "applications" that currently make up the sospep pims suite.Everyone has the same core components in their sospep, you can then choose or create the OPTIONAL apps and dapps that you want ... to customize "your sospep" to meet your specific Personal Information Management(PIM) requirements.
So let's get started on that tour of the "my bc" DAPP by clicking the "PLACES" app icon from the sospep home page, here you will find a collection of public ATLASES, click on the ATLAS named "Canada" and then click on the MAP named "BC".

The screenshot above is of the collection of "Atlases" contained in the sospep named "public". I choose to make this dapp/map PUBLIC so that i can share it with everyone. By default, all of your sospep data is PRIVATE to you only. You choose to share which of your data that you want to share, with which of your PEOPLE that you want to share it with.
Below is a screenshot of the collection of the "Maps" currently contained in the Atlas that I created named "my B.C." Each of the sospep core component applications work in a consistent fashion, to organize your data in a manner that is consistent with the real world counterpart. The "Places" component uses "Atlases" to contains Maps, "Maps" contain Sectors and Sectors that contain "locations".

So now that we've arrived at the view Locations page which displays the contents of a given Map Sector. The "view locations" toolbar offers many options to work with multiple 'locations' records in a single operation. You can MOVE, COPY, DELETE or even EDIT multipe records in one operation. You can also PRINT, EMAIL or SMS your locations. One of the options that I really like here is the COMBINE records option that enables you too select a subset of any of the current sectors Locations and work with multiple records together.

ARTICLES - in the "my BC" dapp - i've written a few "journal" entries for each of the places we visited, outlining our travels. I shared this with some additonal family members as well. In the time it took to write 1 "email" about our adventures, i was able to share them with anyone that I wanted.

In addition to the features described above sospep has many additional features that provide even more functionality. In the comings months our newsletter we will take a look at what you can do when you combine the data from one of your sospep apps (ex "sospep places") with the data from another of your apps ( "sospep people" ) application data to create a "really suite" address book that has some pretty nifty functionality
