[EXAMPLE]

  1. ] 56 yo Vaughn has no problems with the challenges of learning to code, he likes it, however,
  2. ] has a problem with spending his time on "hobbies", not getting paid. Can't keep doing something simply for the fun of it
  3. ] he knows coding pays, but his critical inner self(CIS) had to deal with realities of being a 56 yo rookie
  4. ] based on avg life expectancy of 78 years, has another 22 years ahead of him
  5. ] IF completing the course at snails pace (4 years), he will be looking for work as a 60yo junior developer
  6. ] IF it takes 2 years to find work and he can then work practice his craft for 8 years
  7. ] more likely to stay with the employer who hires him first, most 20 y/o olds won't
  8. ] an entry level dev job will pay < then he is making now, he is making < now then he did 5 years ago, no gurantee on job security, if he loses his job, will likely have to take any job to survive
  9. ] he knows SV companies want young kids, he doesn't want to work in the valley at a big company. he believes that there are more progamming jobs than there are programmers, and that most of those jobs are not in the tech industry
  10. ] he has a job search strategy - apply to a lot of jobs, build a network of hiring managers, and make sure I get a lot of interviews. It’s a numbers game and I’m going to play it.
  11. ] culture fit - At my current job, I show up every day knowing that somebody at work has something to teach me. So I listen. I don’t presume to know everything that’s going on in my boss’s day, so I give him a break. And when I mess up, I say so. That’s how I’ve fit in at every job I’ve had over the last 36 years.
  12. ] current job - uou’ve got a decent job. Why not just accept it? You are where you’re going to be, especially at your age.Working toward a second career gives me the boost I need to get through the daily slog of the one I’ve got now.
