] 2001-03-11 Kevin Harvick at +Atlanta Motor Speedway
in one of the closest finishes in NASCAR history since the introduction of electronic scoring in 1993, +Kevin Harvick became the fastest driver(in the modern era) to win his first Winston Cup race in just his 3rd start, breaking the record set by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in 2000. That record was previously held by the elder Earnhardt . He won the race by only six one-thousandths of a second (.006). After the win, Harvick performed a tire-smoking burnout on the front stretch. Remembering Dale Earnhardt, with three fingers held aloft outside the driver's window, he ran the track backwards as a show of honor and respect.
] 1998-02-15 Pit Row After Dale Earnhardt finally won the Daytona 500,
every crew member of every team lined pit road to shake his hand as he made his way to victory lane. Earnhardt then drove his No. 3 into the infield grass, starting a trend of post-race celebrations. He spun the car twice, throwing grass and leaving tire tracks in the shape of a No. 3 in the grass. Earnhardt then spoke about the victory, saying "I have had a lot of great fans and people behind me all through the years and I just can't thank them enough. The Daytona 500 is ours. We won it! We won it! We won it!"
] 1993-02-14 @ the Daytona 500 - the Dale and Dale show brought to you by Ned Jarrett
The "Dale and Dale Show" commenced as Jarrett passed Earnhardt in the tri-oval as they took the white flag. As the leaders exited Turn 2, the CBS Sports producers came on the headsets of Ken Squier, Neil Bonnett, and Ned Jarrett, telling Ned to "call his son home".
Quote: "Come on, Dale! Go, buddy, go! Allright, come on! I know he's got it to the floorboard; he can't do anymore! Come on! Take 'er to the inside! Don't let 'em get on the inside of you comin' around this turn! Here he comes, Earnhardt; it's the "Dale and Dale Show" as we come off Turn 4! You know who I'm pulling for, it's Dale Jarrett. Bring her to the inside, Dale! Don't let him get down there! He's gonna make it! Dale Jarrett's gonna win the Daytona 500!!!"
The next weekend at Rockingham, Ned reportedly apologized to Earnhardt for his obvious show of bias, to which an understanding Earnhardt replied, "I'm a daddy too."
] 1988-02-18 @ the Daytona 500 Bobbie Allison (Father) and Davey Allison (his son) finish 1-2
Bonnie Farr - (Allison's Daughter) “Dad would not have let Davey win, and Davey would not have held back if he had the chance. It would have been a huge accomplishment to beat his dad, because his dad was his hero.” The post-race celebration was one of the most heartwarming in NASCAR history.
