[WHY NOT - CONS]
[DESIGN]
] its plastic, 'dimply' finish on back cover is underwhelming
] the bezels are too large for the design of the phone, too much plastic, not enough phone
[PERFORMANCE]
] fingerprint sensor is hit & miss
] heart rate montor in inconsistent
[OPERATING-SYSTEM] Samsung TouchWiz Skin
] improving but still a fragemented concoction of three different UI paradigms
] by JR Raphael - ] excellent DISPLAY, ] superb BATTERY life and ] a respectable CAMERA. ] It's water-resistant,] DESIGN feels cheaply made, ] it's unnecessarily large with no accompanying benefit to the bulk and ] OS its software is cluttered and visually inconsistent. ] nothing about the device that sets it apart or makes it feel particularly special.
] by David Ruddock - DISPLAY Best. Screen. Ever. Samsung's Super AMOLED HD panel is the finest display the company has ever produced. CAMERA produces absolutely great images when lighting is decent, real-time HDR preview mode is super cool, too. It supports a huge array of video recording options, including HDR video, and the phase detection auto-focus really does work. Samsung's camera app is also highly usable and intuitive. BATTERY among the best battery life I've ever experienced on an Android device. Water Resistance. PERFORMANCE fast, really fastOS Bloat: TouchWiz, HARDWARE Fingerprint scanner: It's a nuisance to use and just feels like an afterthought. Apple's Touch ID is a simple, innovative implementation of biometric verification. Storage: 16GB, 10GB of which are usable. There is no 32GB model of the S5 available in the US on any carrier. In fact, the 32GB S5 is only available in Korea for the time being. DESIGN Plastic: It still feels cheap. Samsung, I beg of you, find a way to make your phones feel like they should retail for $700.
] by Brad Molen - - ] Fantastic DISPLAY ] CAMERA Daylight images are on par with other flagship phones ] Waterproof casing and improved design ] Good BATTERY life] Fingerprint scanner can be frustrating ] Selective focus doesn't always work as promised ] Heart rate monitor isn't completely accurate ] TouchWiz UI looks better, but is still confusing
] by Ron Amadeo - ] the single fastest smartphone available (for now). ] The new button layout, with "Recent Apps" becoming a top-tier button, makes multitasking a lot easier. ] With no menu button, Samsung has had to add on-screen controls to the Touchwiz apps, which makes feature discoverability a lot easier. ] It's waterproof, provided you snap everything closed correctly. ] TouchWiz is a fragmented clash of three different operating system styles. ] We aren't sure a heart rate monitor would be useful on a phone, but the one on this phone is only right about half the time. ] The fingerprint reader can't be used one-handed. ] The usual cheap-feeling plastic. It's a little improved over the glossy S4 but still not great. ] Thanks to the fatter bezels, the S5 design feels like a step backward when compared to the S4. We're supposed to be getting more screen and less plastic, not the other way around. When you see the two next to each other, it's hard to not prefer the Galaxy S4's slimmer design.
] by Jessica Dolcourt - The Galaxy S5 absolutely is a premium, fast phone that I would buy and use every day. The phone's high-quality camera won't let you down, there are plenty of features to keep you occupied, and the display is bright and beautiful. And even though it is plastic, the water-resistant seals are an extra perk if you often head to the pool, hot tub, or beach.skip the Galaxy S5 if you like metal covering your smartphone, if you don't need every feature under the sun, or if you prefer a cleaner version of Android. Also move along if you're on a budget -- in some regions, the Galaxy S5 costs significantly more than other premium handsets.
