our selection process and how it makes this a better 'best-of' list

[WHAT]

  1. ] heres where things can/start to get a little 'messy', 
    1. ] how are we going to choose 'the winners' from the "list of nominees"
  2. ] lets begin by starting with the easy parts, we can use some baseline statistics like .... 
    1. ] total # nominations, 
    2. ] total nomination plus count, 
    3. ] references, 
    4. ] user follower count (to determine subcategory ranking), 
  3. ] and use those numbers to create a 'baseline score'
    1. ] this will seperate the people who "many people" are nominating versus those who have "few people" nominating them, 
    2. ] although it wont necessarily harm/penalize the people with fewer nominations, 
    3. ] but is geared more towards seperating those with large follower bases and multiple nominations versus those with small follower bases and multiple nominations
      1. (for EX someone with 10 nominations and 100K followers would score higher than someone with 10 nominations and 500k followers.)
    4. ] people with single nominations would have to be judges solely on their 'content quality' score
  4. ] the harder part is when things start to get 'subjective', creating a 'content quality score' beginning with 
    1. ] profile - review
      1. ] profile exists - the 'nominee' is present on the network, 
      2. ] profile quality - a 'bluehead' with no info in the 'about' section should likely be disqualified
      3. ] has activity - someone who hasn't posted in the last (x) months, isn't likely to be 1 of the best   
    2. ] review - post content quality - related to their nominated subject category area/circle/
      1. ] PROBLEM = who/what defines/determines what quality content is 
      2. ] SOLUTION = you do
      3. ] PROBLEM = how do 'we' rank what you like? 
      4. ] SOLUTION = you vote 
    3. ] review - 'content created' VS 'content curated'
      1. ] ratio - 
    4. ] review - level of engagement 
      1. ] are they engaging? - is the person posting the 'content' replying to commentors,
      2. ] what is the level/frequency of engagement - frequently, infrequently, not at all 
      3. ] are they censoring? 
    5. ] total - score
      1. ] baseline score
      2. ] content quality score

    1. ] as I worked through the list of nominations from Amanda's post, to pick out my winners, here's what i discovered about "the people" who got nominated, 
    2. ] they got nominated a lot, and 1 commentors comment that really rang true, 
      1. "g+ is full of a whole lot of people talking about g+" 
    3. ] i have put a lot of 'those people' into their own category called 
      1. ] business-of- social-media
    4. ] VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!
      1. ] this in NOT a bash on the network or on any of the people in these categories. IF this is the type of information/content that you are looking for/interested this group of people is a GOLD MINE in these Removed To: Categories contain "the A listers", in relation to their subject category

    1. ] Not to pick on the social-media gurus only, there are several other 'subject categories' which i have identified that seem to have large fan followings/mass appeal and you can review them all in the  list below. We are taking these people out

    1. ] The g+'ers who have been REMOVED TO CATEGORIES (listed below) include most?all of the most popular, well established people whom you will find on most other best of lists. 
    2. ] These categories lists ALSO contain people who have been nominated in these same subject categories but have not yet amassed the giant follower bases, we could call them the up and comers of g+, hopefully worth your time for taking a look at.
