1. ] The Wi-Fi Alliance announced at CES today a new service called Wi-Fi Aware. The service would enable smartphone users to discover each other and connect peer-to-peer via WiFi. Software called "neighbor awareness" operates continuously in the background, which actually saves power because it operates in an extremely low-power mode and eliminates the need for constant connection. The new standard is expected to be built into chips this year, and show up in smartphones and tablets by next year
