    1. The open-source encryption program TrueCrypt was suddenly embroiled in mystery and confusion yesterday. Visitors to the TrueCrypt site were redirected to a page on the open course community site SourceForge advising users to stop using the product and and switch to Microsoft Bitlocker. A warning at the top of the page said quote: Using TrueCrypt is not secure as it may contain unfixed security issues. This page exists only to help migrate existing data encrypted by TrueCrypt."

    1. ] NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden went on TV last night to defend his leak of a massive trove of NSA documents. In his first-ever mainstream interview, NBC's Brian Williams peppered him with questions in Moscow.

    1. ] Samsung announced a health-related smart wristband yesterday. It’s called the Simband. Samsung describes it as an “investigational device,” an open platform for other companies to develop sensors and software and other technology for. The company also announced a related cloud service.

  5. ] GOOG 'android wear' OS screenshots
    1. A Google engineer posted on Google+ the first-ever public screenshots from Google’s Android Wear operating system. Android Wear is Google’s operating system for smartwatches and other wearable devices. The seven screenshots were posted by Senior Developer Advocate at Google Timothy Jordan. They show notifications from a Nest smoke detector, an Android game and a calendar as well as music controls and a control for listening to a podcast. The most interesting fact about this is that Jordan is on the Google Glass group, raising the possibility that Google Glass and smart glass software may be part of Android Wear.
