] Near Field Communications(NFC) is technology for short range wireless data tranfer.
] one of it's main uses is for mobile payments, thought of as a mobile wallet technology,
] some android phones have supported NFC for years.
] next iphone will have mobile payments built in and it will be built upon NFC
] seperate chip to store your personal financial data, completely secure, can only be accessed in a certain way
] apple has many resources that will help it succeed as a mobile payments compnay, huge # of iOS + iTune users with credit card numbers on file
] apple has also made a lot of hiring in this mobile wallet space, engineers and product and business heads
] would work similar to google wallet payment system
] just tap your phone to make a payment
] since about 2000, apple was an unusual company, now IS apple becoming more like an ordinary company, "we have 1 phone", now more phones, "no mini ipads" now mini ipad, NO NFC now NFC,
] mobile space is different than when s. jobs was around, more uses.
] may use a combination of iBeacons and NFC (more secure)
] maybe changes driven by Retailers, who may not be thrilled with having an apple only solution(ibeacon) VS one that more widely available (NFC already on android, blackberry and windows)
