    1. ] The staff and community @crackberry.com put together a list of the 25 most wanted features that they would like to see in the Blackberry 10.x os.
    2. ] I've compiled a summarized and categorized 1 page listing from their 'most wanted' features article.
    3. ] What do you think, are they on track? Are the problems that they are seeing in the native OS apps the same that you are experiencing? ] is there a killer feature that you think the bb 10.x os is missing?

[WHY]

  1. ] ADD - google play / services support
    1. ] this was the top comment out of all the comments.
    2. ] All those apps you can't seem to run on BlackBerry, for the most part, it's because they want Google Play Services access. If they had that access, the compatibility rate of Android apps on BlackBerry 10 would be much higher than it already is.
    3. ] It's extremely annoying when an app like Flappy Birds crashes whenever you hit the leaderboard button simply because it relies on Google Play Games access to record scores. 
  2. ] ADD - ecosystem - APK's in BB world
    1. ] an official way to obtain android apps ] verify only functional ] distinguish between android/native,
    2. ] rumors of it being in the works,
  3. ] IMPROVE - UI - tweaking the home screen
    1. ] homescreen where you could pin or sticky apps you use a lot.
    2. ] We like that the homescreen shows what's open as it makes multitasking fast, but because apps are moving positions a lot, your brain doesn't think to look at them for info. You mainly just open and close apps and jump around. If you could have part of the homescreen be fixed with mini versions of running apps, and then part of the screen showing the open apps, we think this may be a more useful experience. 
    3. ] speed up the ease of jumping between open apps. Right now you have to swipe up to return to the homescreen of Active Frames, upon which you have to tap an app to jump into it. BlackBerry could save time here if they began to show the open apps on the screen (the flowed down from the top) as you begin to swipe up from the bottom, and you could guide your finger to the app you want to jump directly into. Releasing your finger on that app would take you directly into it, without the need to first return to the homescreen
  4. ] ADD - UI - chrome
    1. ] we felt the graphics in BlackBerry 10 looked dated and clunky. We're in a design era right now where everybody is going clean and lightweight with graphics. Solid colors, light lines.
    2. ] a lightweight look and feel. The goal should be to make the best looking os period
    3. ] BlackBerry should be leading the way here, especially with it's gesture-based UI. ?
  5. ] ADD - customizations and user presets
    1. ] add in more levels of settings (ability to turn off notifications for specific things and customize them, etc.), we think it's important that BlackBerry try to keep BlackBerry 10 as simple as possible for newbies and first time users to pick up.
    2. ] It needs to be approachable and learnable, and then as you get smarter with it you learn how to customize. To that end, we think there needs to be more presets that users can pick during startup that provide the user with a tailored BlackBerry 10 experience. The Power Communicator setting would turn on toast notifications by default, while the Casual User setting would maybe turn them off, etc.
  6. ] IMPROVE - APP - contacts
    1. ] a big issue for many people
    2. ] the idea of how it works is fantastic, it just doesn't really work that way.
    3. ] Contacts are often duplicated, ] they go missing and come back whenever they want, ] images are assigned one minute and not the next, ] names get switched around, ] weird data gets added to profiles and more

    1. ] previously backed up your device,
    2. ] desc - secure and find your device if its lost or stolen
  8. ] IMPROVE - APP - link (PC synch)
    1. ] problems on mac, ] needs better user experience
  9. ] IMPROVE - APP - camera
    1. ] panorama options,  ] create GIF's on the go ] auto upload feature with some storage and editing options with a service such as Aviary ( ] basic camera app features like flash settings or ] flipping to the front camera are hidden behind the menu option
  10. ] ADD - move assets to SD card
    1. ] apps in particular, can quick consume devices memory,
  11. ] ADD - S/MIME && PGP for all
    1. ] not just for BES clients
  12. ] IMPROVE - gestures - email & attachment
    1. ] a gesture based os but only now are we starting to see gestures like the hub gesture in the email client, while android has had and apple is following androids lead
  13. ] IMPROVE - APP - MUSIC
    1. ] too basic,
    2. ] ADD ] ability to control music from the lock screen visually, ] Gracenote integration to download missing album art cover issues ] SoundHound integration . ] edit ringtones natively from within the music app, ] bring back an equalizer and ] throw in a visualizer.?
  14. ] IMPROVE - APP - GALLERY
    1. ] too basic, some functionality not obvious(ex creating folders)
  15. ] IMPROVE - VPN suppport
    1. ] BB10 does support corporate worlds(proprietary) VPN protocols, DOES NOT support OpenVPN, PPTP, IPSEC/L2TP,
  16. ] ADD - wireless printing integration
    1. ] like apple airprint, google cloudprint - ?? print to go
  17. ] ADD - hub reset
    1. ] when returning to the 'hub' it puts you in the exact same spot you left it,
    2. ] ADD option to return to 'default' of 'generic starting point', some things like copy and paste are better returning to same spot, while most people would prefer not too 
  18. ] IMPROVE - toast notification
    1. more control - which apps the run for, where they appear, remove redundancy (ex BBM )

    1. Yeah, google play services will make android apps more useful. But, really, we will need better app permission control here.
    2. Note that google did introduce support for controlling app permissions before reverting it (search for AppOps). I don't mind if this breaks a few apps. If I can't control permissions, there is no way I'm gonna install apks anyway. With permission control, I may give it a shot to see if it works. So, BlackBerry shouldn't have a problem enabling this out of the box in support of being a secure device.
    3. A second point about permissions is about native BlackBerry apps. I would like to see a permission added to control internet access. With 10.2.1 going headless, this will give me much needed control over apps (and my mobile data usage)
