Jamie stated the car was really good at the beginning of the race but not the same after the incident. After an initial Teams/Press mixup where it was announced that he would fill in until Hamlin returned from his injury and then the story changed to filling in for just the Martinsville race. They were off pace in practice and qualified poorly and were still struggling to find speed in the car in the final practice session before Sundays race. Starting the race near the back of the, it didnt look like things were improving for Mark during the race. Martin was caught up in contact in the Lap#180 incident sustaining damage and losing a lap, had the car came off the jacks in the pits losing spots there but still battled back to manage a top 10th &nbsp;</li>

An early spin that brought out the first caution of the race looked like it could be the onset of a long day. As the race came to an end Danica was in a battle with Brian Vickers for positions which led to some late race contact that could have ended an otherwise impressive run.
