<div>The liberal party should encourage the liberal government to OPEN SOURCE its "election platform / campaign promises list".&nbsp;</div>
<p>YES "the platform" is "on the web" for anyone to see, but it is behind a "walled garden" and could be changed/removed at will. (hey it's not that we don't trust you guys/gals its just that ... oh well, maybe we dont trust you guys/gals)&nbsp;</p>
<p>The format is not particulary user/machine friendly (html/pdf)&nbsp;</p>
<p>many of the 'promises' are somewhat vague or loosely defined. One example would be the promise of "open government". Sure it sounds great,, who wouldn't want a more open government, but what exactly does "open government" mean?&nbsp;</p>
<p>By publishing the "liberal platform" to a non partisan, non biased open platform(example github.com) it is still on the web, for anyone to see, but it is also&nbsp;independant, open and accountable.&nbsp;&nbsp;....</p>
<p>Those words should ring a famliar sounding bell for you because I believe they were used on the campaign trail.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Any changes that need to be made to the platform will be made in the open, visible to all, via a defined process.&nbsp;</p>
<div>As you are likeley aware, third party websites have sprung up to monitor/track the progress of the government in relation to the election platform that it ran on. Sites like <a href="http://trudeaumetre.ca" target="_blank">trudeaumetre.ca</a> could benefit by sourcing the "promises" that they are tracking directly from "the source", knowing that the source is truly public,</div>
<p>The biggest benefit that may be achieved by doing this is that <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>anyone can contribute</strong></span> to the platform.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You could even start a second version of campaign promises called v-2019 for the promises of the next term.&nbsp;</p>
<p>IMO, This would be a great signal for ] open governement, ] open data&nbsp;</p>
