smartphones

[WHAT]

This article attempts to outline some of the 'key factors' involved in choosing the right/best smartphone for you. It is written with the 'good intention' of helping the non or less technically inclined, new smartphone user/s decide on which smartphone might be the best choice for them.

There are a lot of variables that come into play when choosing a smartphone (os, device, brand, apps, service provider, service package) and I can imagine that walking into any 1 of a myriad of smartphone vendors with the countless choices, mix in some sales person bias, personal opinions, current promotions, etc and it could make choosing that new smartphone somewhat overwhelming/confusing or even frustrating.

It's doesnt have to be confusing, its really quite simple! Start by choosing your operating system(os). Currently there are 2 primary choices. ios (by apple) and android (open source) are the 2 biggies and together they account for almost 90% of the mobile os market. Choosing between them based on market share (66 to 22) may make it seem pretty straitforward BUT keep in mind that apple has been around a lot longer and that android is coming on strong for a number of very good reasons. Check out my ios-VS-android comparision which attempts to outline some of the basic differences between these 2 os.

There are other operating sytems, and even more coming ...

] blackberry os 7 by RIM is another option to consider IF you NEED/WANT a device with a physical keyboard and ...

] windows phone 7 by microsoft is a windows os version for smarthphones which barely anyone uses but they

] Both RIM(blackberry 10) and microsoft (windows phone 8) have newer (and much improved) versions of their mobile OS coming to market soon. Check back for more

] still more ... ] symbian, ]

] disclosures & disclaimers

] personally i use an android phone(samsung galaxy sII).

] there was no money/incentive earned by myself for publishing this opinion.

[WHY]

] why do i need/want [that]

smartphone - an all-in-one device thats a phone, an address book, web browser, alarm clock, camera, HD video camera, audio player, video player,

screen size -

processor -

ram -

hdd -

keyboard -

battery life -

talk time

standby time

wless stds - lte

wifi stds

bluetooth -

microphone -

speaker -

camera -

i/o -

storage

audio

[]

connectors

power

usb

[extras]

NFC

[dimensions]

height:

width:

thickness:

weight:

[intangibles]

] who made this?

[WHERE]

] to use [what]

[WHEN]

] to use [what]

[EXAMPLE]

] apple iphone 5

] samsung galaxy s3

]

[HOW-TO]

] choose your OS - how to choose a smartphone os

ios - apple os, limited to

android - open source os, backed by google,

COMING SOON (2012-11) windows 8 - microsoft os,

COMING SOON (2013-??) blackberry 10 - BB os,

others -

] choose your HW -

ios - if you've decideD on the apple os, basically you have only have 3 devices to choose from ...

iphone 5(newest), The newest version has these feature differences that the previous version does not have.
