[EXAMPLE]

  1. ] we (canadian taxpayers) already pay for many social programs - 
    1. ] employment insurance, canada pension plan, old age security, guaranteed income supplement, welfare, disability, universal child care benefits, 
    2. ] each of these programs comes with not only the benefit $ amount paid out to the various programs recipients but the administrative overhead of operating each of the many programs. 
    3. ] if you cancelled all of above programs and simply issued everyone a basic income amount, 
    4. ] the total cost of the BI program may not be as exhorbitant as it would first seem with basic math.
    5. ] this study shows that it may actually cost less to provide a basic income to everyone, than to pay for all of the social programs that we currently have.

    1. ] I know your worried that 'all the freeloaders' are just gonna sit around on their asses all day long and live the high life off your hard earned tax dollars
    2. ] Well, to be clear, you wouldn't exactly live the high life off of the basic income amount
    3. ] but yes, it would certainly be subject to abuse, just like every other social program that exists today
